Introduction:

The Hubert family of Naperville, IL is in the middle of a private long-term effort to provide a very special child of God, Josselin, with the language and education to be able to lead a fulfilling life upon return to her family and society in Honduras Central America.

Although Josselin has a profound hearing loss, she successfully uses spoken language and speech reading to attend 2nd grade at All Saints Catholic Academy in Naperville. Greg Hubert currently serves as her full-time classroom aid and tutor. Greg and his wife Shelley are seeking a highly-motivated university student in an elementary education program or a related field to serve as a part-time classroom aid and tutor 15-20 hours per week. This part-time support would allow Greg the much needed time so that he can devote more effort to planning and the overall needs of his family.

Job Description

Assists Josselin in her 2nd grade classroom so that she fully understands the classroom instructions and communications of the teacher and students.

Provides tutoring in reading comprehension, language and academic subjects.

Works with Greg and the classroom teacher to monitor Josselin’s progress.

Actively participates in the development of tutoring lesson plans.

Flexible hours and competitive compensation.

Requirements

Must be a university student pursuing a degree in elementary education or a related field.

Must complete a 3 hour Protecting God’s Children workshop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet.

Must complete a one day training program in Cued Speech and develop basic skills to supplement spoken language communication.

Must provide two letters of recommendation, preferably one from a university professor and one from a church leader.
